Although it's still unclear whether or not there'll be an actual ceremony, the Oscar nominees were announced today: No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Atonement, and Juno appear to have done rather well. And Cate Blanchett was nominated twice. The nominees also make my movie year-in-the-wilderness official: for the first time, I haven't seen one, single film nominated in a major category.
Best Picture nominees: Atonement, Michael Clayton, No Countey for Old Men, There Will be Blood, Juno
Other nominees here.
In entirely unrelated news, the first trailer for the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie is here. Looks fun. Lotsa welding.
