So, "Preview Night" is the ever-so-slightly more limited Wednesday evening event during which the convention hall opens for swag handouts and merchandise. There's not really any programming, but there's still plenty to see. Being, by six, completely exhausted, we didn't stay terribly long--doing some wading around in the ocean of wanderers gathered in the central 'big studios' area, but spent a bit more time casually strolling the smaller, nerdier areas at the extremes of the hall.
Sure, the big guys have better free stuff, but that comic book guy in the back corner has air and personal space to offer. Mike and Rick bee-lined for some Robot Chicken stuff and were rewarded with a Seth Green spotting, while I chatted up Berke Breathed of 'Bloom County' fame, attempting to find new and intelligent-sounding ways to say "ohmygodyouaresoawesome." My success was modest, at best, but he kindly overlooked my drooling. Today the zaniness begins in earnest, which means that I get to carbo-load in guilt-free style. Hide your pancakes, ladies. Ross is on the prowl.
Incidentally, my bio in the souvenir book refers to me as "media critic". I like that.
